Young Playwright's Festival Day 2

The second day of the annual Young Playwright's Festival is always a bit longer as the older students in the higher divisions write plays that are more in-depth and often contain multiple scenes and set changes.  I am always amazed at the creativity that these students have and are able to translate into a play that is performed.

I have to admit that my favorite play was the winning play from the forth division called Writer's Block. It was such a simple premise that only involved 4 actors but it was so funny and well done.  It was a bit harder to narrow down my favorite pictures from all of these plays, but I managed to keep this relatively short.

Young Playwright's Festival Day 1

I had the joy of working along side all for One Productions with their annual Young Playwrights Festival.  This was not the first one I have photographed, but it has been a couple years (thanks to a pandemic...).  I really enjoyed seeing so many families coming together to watch the productions of the winning plays and encourage all the young actors who brought the plays to life.  The first night is always pretty cute as it is the work of the younger kids in the lower divisions whose stories are fairly simple but often showcase great imagination.

Young Playwrights Festival is such a wonderful program that has been operating for over a decade and provides a unique opportunity to students grades kindergarten through 12 to learn how to write a play and get a good look at the work needed to bring a play to life through a performance.

afO's The Princess and the Goblin

This was such a fun play with a fairly large cast!  The action was nearly constant with dancing, little goblins running around, and guards fighting.  I struggled to narrow down the pictures with so much going on and so many people involved.  There were entrances and exits spread out around the whole stage which sat between the rows of chairs.  I specifically went to a dress rehearsal and made sure everyone sat on the same side as I did so that I wouldn't get the faces of audience members in my pictures.  It worked out quite well and I'm glad we made the proper arrangements.
