afO's Out of the Box

all for One stepped away from their usual to do an inaugural event called "Out of the Box" which they did at their own space.  This was a collection of pieces.  First up was The Redemption of Ruth which is a reader's theater piece that I've seen a few times before.  I think the last time I saw it, Laurie was Ruth, so it was really neat seeing her in the role of Naomi instead.  The second piece called Repeat Back to Me and was new.  I absolutely loved this piece!  It was SO funny!  It was simple with just two characters, but was so relatable and so very well done.  And in-between were musical pieces which tied everything together so well.

Matthew's Cake Smash

I was pretty shocked when my dear friend, Samantha, texted me to say that Matthew was almost one year old already, and we needed to plan his cake smash session.  It was less than a year ago when I did Matthew's newborn session which was far from usual, making history as the first newborn session done at Parkview's PICU.  Matthew has grown so much since then and is such a precious, chunky boy now!

Samantha and I decided this session would be easiest at her house instead of bringing Matthew to my studio, so with some extra planning, we turned a corner of her dining room into a little set.  This cute cake was made with lots of love by Samantha since Matthew needed to have something that would be easy for him to eat.  He really liked his special cake!  His older sisters joined him at the end.  They adore baby Matthew so much!  💗

Aspen Faith

Despite sickness and bad weather, we were able to get this precious little girl into the studio.  Aspen started out asleep but then woke up and wanted to see everything.  She gave me such sweet smiles and maybe a couple ornery grins too.  😅  She didn't really like being contained in the wraps and seemed happier with her feet left out so she could stretch.  But after she got her belly full, she succumbed to the warmth and the wraps and fell into a nice, deep sleep.  The little shower set is what did her in.  She was just too comfy to stay awake any longer.

I photographed Aspen's brother a couple of years ago.  When I have a returning family, I always check to see what blankets, wraps, and props I had previously used to see if I can incorporate any of those into the new session.  I was pleased that even though the colors we used with Aspen are different than what we used with her brother, I was still able to incorporate many of the same blankets and baskets.  😊
