Young Playwrights Festival Day 1

I was glad to be asked to photograph the Young Playwrights Festival again this year!  This festival is a two day event featuring the winning plays from 4 divisions.  The first night is always so cute with all the little kids.  I love seeing the imagination they have.  I can usually count on at least one play including some sort of mythical creatures like dragons or unicorns.  As always, all the performers did a great job!

Young Playwrights Festival is such a wonderful program that has been operating for over a decade and provides a unique opportunity to students grades kindergarten through 12 to learn how to write a play and get a good look at the work needed to bring a play to life through a performance.

Gideon Arlo

I had so much fun with this little guy in my studio!  Gideon wouldn't sleep, but was quite content with watching me work.  I often caught him just staring off into space like he was trying to understand his life and why he's here.  It was seriously so dang cute!  He also had no interest in being contained.  He quickly and easily wiggled his way out of every swaddle I did.  😅

Matthew and Sisters

A couple weeks ago I was able to go visit Matthew's family as they were finally all home together so I could take pictures of him with his sisters.  He had turned 3 months old that day and had grown quite a bit since I last saw him.  I just love how expressive he is!  His sisters were obsessed with the doll bed I brought to put him in.  They couldn't believe how perfectly he fit on it.  They are already learning how to be good, helpful big sisters to this special little guy.

Prayers are so appreciated for this wonderful family as they continue to adjust and learn how to care for their precious boy.  💗

IEN State Finals

I certainly wouldn't have thought when I started my photography business a decade ago that I would be photographing an esports event.  However, in the last couple of years, Joe started the esports program at Snider (which has been incredibly successful), joined the Indiana Esports Network board and quickly became the director, and has become a prominent voice and expert of sorts who has traveled around to speak about the benefits of esports for students.  In case you can't tell, I think Joe is pretty dang amazing!  So this year when IEN had to start from scratch to create their plan for State Finals, I knew I wanted to help.  In a lot of ways, it was a lot more difficult than I expected (my body was not physically prepared for how much walking it would be...😅), but overall, everything went so well!  It was a joy to see these kids working together so well and being surrounded by so many families who were there to cheer them on.  We are incredibly grateful to Ball State for hosting this wonderful event!
