Lila Rae

This bright-eyed beauty didn't sleep a wink during her mini session, but that just made it easier to capture her inquisitive nature!  Lila Rae was almost a month old when I took these pictures.  I don't think I have ever worked with a baby that was so interested in looking directly at me (well, the camera) almost the entire time.  She wasn't distracted by the lights or anything else.  She just stared right into the camera.  She was just so sweet!  She also looked so stunning in the purple and pink so of course those pictures easily became my favorite from her session!

I feel like its been a while since I posted any black and white pictures.  I think I kinda forgot how much I love black and white, especially for those detailed shots.  Now I can't stop staring at those toes!!!  I also can't get over how cute she looked when she stuck her little tongue out at me.  Such a precious little girl!

50 Years of Love!

This lovely couple is celebrating 50 years of marriage today!  Isn't that so cool?!  They are definitely an inspiration!  Their love for each other is just so evident!  It's my prayer that they can experience many more wonderful years together.  Happy Anniversary Ed and Kathy!!  :)

Isla Grace

This is Isla Grace, my new niece.  Maybe I am too biased to say this, but I think she is stunningly beautiful!!!

I love her little smirk!

She was awake for most of our photo session.  She seemed too enthralled by me and my camera to just close her eyes and fall asleep.  I was seriously impressed with how much she would look straight at me from time to time.

She loved the faux fur blankets we laid her in!

She eventually went to sleep and slept quite soundly for the rest of our time together.  I was able to move her around without disrupting her.

I am SO happy that I was able to spend time capturing Isla in this fleeting stage of life.  She won't stay this small forever, but I am sure she will always be just as precious and beautiful!!  :)

Hezekiah

I have a new nephew!!  Hezekiah Daniel was born yesterday at 4:39 pm!  He is 7 lb 14 oz and 20.5" long!  Little Zeke was passed around to his brother, sister, mom, and dad.  :)

His toes are really long, but they are so cute!!  :)

Isn't he so adorable?!?!?

Right before I left, Zeke opened his eyes to look at his daddy!  :)

Starting A Blog

I am just starting this blog for the first time.  I want to use this as a place to post pictures (both new and old) and to put some explanation behind the photographs you see on here as well as on my site.  So I thought I would start with this photograph.  I think this is my current favorite of what I have.  This picture is from a series of photographs that make up my largest project I have done thus far.  It was done when I was a senior in college and it was a requirement in order to graduate.  I spent over a year on this one project from conception to the opening of the show.   I named this project "Portraits of Life" because I wanted to capture the beauty and essence of life, specifically in children, that is all too often lost and never given a chance through abortions.  And thus my project and therefore these beautiful images were quickly surrounded with controversy and hate.  My project is no longer on display as the entire piece it was meant to be, but the remnants of it remain here and there throughout my website and on my business cards.  The center piece of the project was a 4 ft x 4 ft QR code that is made up of over 1,000 images just like the one I posted here.  It is currently hanging about my couch where I see it every day and am reminded of the beauty and value of life.  I hope that some of the images I post on here will also help you remember this precious gift from God that is our lives.

This is little Evie from my project "Portraits of Life".

I had the privilege of including my niece, Eowyn, in my project.  If you can't tell from this picture, she has a bit of an attitude. :)
